In the latest edition of Trade School, sponsored by the U.S. Grains Council (USGC), National Corn Growers Association (NCGA), Indiana Corn Marketing Council, Kentucky Corn Growers Association and Ohio Corn and Wheat, participants traveled to Louisville where they hit the books on all things trade. In addition to in-the-classroom activities, attendees had the opportunity to visit a nearby lock, which raises and lowers boats and ships between stretches of water where water levels may differ. While the group saw coal, they were more interested in how the lock operates when U.S. grains are involved. The process looks the same regardless of what may be going through the lock.
