Regional Buyers Conference In Colombia Connects Buyers To U.S. Producers, Agribusinesses

Last week, the U.S. Grains & BioProducts Council (USGBC) welcomed more than 150 buyers from Mexico and Latin America (LTA) to Cartagena, Colombia for Grain to Gain, a conference sharing the nutritional and financial benefits of U.S. corn, sorghum and their co-products.

“For the Council, this serves as an important opportunity to highlight U.S. coarse grains in two key markets, that hold 10 of the top 20 customers for U.S. grain exports. It is a priority for us to ensure our customers continue to receive a transparent and informed outlook of our products. As we continue to engage with our key customers, ensuring they can conduct in-person meetings with sellers and address common concerns is paramount for us to reach our goals of increasing adoption and continued partnership with the U.S.,” said Marri Tejada, USGBC regional director for LTA.

“Our regional market in LTA represents a large base of end-users, with a high knowledge and education of our commodities, and being able to provide a platform to discuss the recent market outlooks and trends allows the Council to be a trusted source of valuable information to help guide purchasing decisions, highlighting where U.S. origin products shine.”

The two-day event consisted of a comprehensive agenda that covered relevant topics including U.S. trade policy, regional market dynamics, the superior performance of U.S. corn, sustainability in the global grain supply and the Council’s 2025/26 Corn Harvest Quality Report.

Attendees were also able to take part in detailed discussions with regional associations and experts on relevant topics that included logistics, animal diet inclusion for various species, including uses of sorghum and distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS).

“Leveraging the common components and challenges of both Mexico and LTA in this joint initiative created an important space to promote sales to our key markets while also looking to expand the portfolio of U.S. products in these regions,” said Estefanía Perez, USGBC deputy director in Mexico.

“Having the opportunity to bring buyers, sellers and experts together allows us to support the needs of our customers and simultaneously support U.S. producers.”
